Under the following conditions, the new national code number B197 from April 1st, 2021 offers the possibility to also drive manual transmissions, even though the driving test was completed in an automatic vehicle:
​
10 driving lessons of 45 minutes each on a switch car (the driving lessons may take place after the practical basic training at the earliest)
A 15-minute test drive with a driving instructor on a switch truck (half of the test drive must be urban and half rural)
Issuance of a corresponding certificate by the driving school
Removal of an existing automatic restriction by the driving license office (code number 197 instead of 78)
